Forge DV
Switchable APR Remap through the cruise stalk.
Carbonio

superb news :-)  , beat me to it but Im still running in ....

Exactly what I would do (maybe change the map to an Oettinger one but Im not sure thats not just £Â£Ã‚£Ã‚£ lost over APR which is just as good)

fitting cc at the same time is a no brainer imho

Before + After graphs yes please ... Do DSG 's dyno the same as manual ? wonder what the loss is ?

Cant wait to hear what you think as Im prob only a couple hundred miles away from a similar decision

its like Christmas  :smug:

APR own oettinger, so the maps are probably the same or very similar

And that obviously is completley different to a blow off valve

A blow off valve is still a diverter valve (DV). More specifically a blow off valve is an atmospheric diverter valve, some peeps call them dump valves and these give the chavvy pshhhhh soundwhen changing gears at higher revs. The one I have chosen is a recirculating diverter valve and so doesn't dump to the atmosphere directly and so isn't as loud. :nerd:

Thanks again Hurdy!

Nice one, Hurdy!!   You've been listening!....

Btw, the position of the Ed30 stock DV doesn't solve the DV issues - Failures aren't all down to turbo heat but from boost handling inadequacies. The Forge DV solves the problem by being a wise safeguard and has small but cool added benefits.

Really?!  Didn't know that... well actually I remember reading that Oettinger went bust - or almost and were rescued by an American businessman who owned a tuning house in the US so that makes sense.  Hmm well I was dithering between Revo, APR and Oettinger, Oettinger being my preferred choice closely followed by APR.  I know Revo are great too but Oettinger's pedigree and the plethora or articles I have read about APR pushed me in that direction - before that Revo was a no-brainer for me.

I'm just itching to upgrade my e30 as well and the more i read about it, the more i want it done (after all, have done 9300 miles now!)  Only thing making me very hesitant is that i'm afraid to lose the warranty, and am not sure if the car will be able to handle the power through the front wheels.  Maybe its a psychological thing or maybe its because i've never done anything like this before and haven't got the guts/confidence to do it, but my thinking is that i'm not going to touch the engine mods until the warranty runs out.  But its just too long away!  It seems so many people are upgrading their cars with no problems though.  Help me!

I thought about that for a couple of minutes and said to myself.. sod the warranty.   Red Robin's dealers seem reasonable.. if I have any problems I'll go to them

....I recommend you do a CarLimits one day course (4-car day for more one-to-one attention) - On airfield at North Weald in your own car. Explore the limits under supervision so you know where the edge is on the road and better stay away from falling off it!

Mods like exhaust, Forge DV, Carbonio intake, suspension, brakes, remap from someone established like APR/oettinger or Revo, are highly unlikely to go wrong and result in a warranty issue but talk to your dealer (and insurer to check cost increases) first.

....Bear in mind that the stock intercooler is considered to be particularly good on the stock car. Forge had quite a lot of difficulties improving it in their product development. Also, the climate you drive in should be a consideration. I believe that the APR intercooler must have an appropriate map upgrade added.

More and more peeps offering mods are turning their attention to DSG. It's still a new and relatively expensive car in the UK market for owners to be prepared to spend, and also it's a great car as standard anyway.
