Are you keeping the RCD300 or thinking of upgrading?

If you are keeping the original Head unit then there is no point in going for an all singing and dancing IPOD.

A 4gb IPOD NANO will fit around 1,000 songs on it.

If you put them into 5 playlists, then you can play them through 1 to 5 on the head unit. No6 on the headunit simply plays everything on your IPOD in a big list.

Before I changed the HU I simply made a list of:-

Classical
Modern Pop
Rock
80's :embarassed:
Pre 80's :embarassed: :embarassed:

I found this the best way to play track for what mood I was in.

If you are changing the HU then get one of the larger memory IPODs. :nerd:

I've got the measely 1gb iPod Nano and the has a 4gb Nano  - but mine has the best music/playlists

Both work perfectly in the GTI and can be controlled by the MFSW no problem.

Playlist 6 will play all the iPod tracks, displaying 1-99, then reverts back to 1-99 again. No problema at all but it would be nice to see artist/album/track info

The factory kit came with about 9 adaptors to fit all the current iPod variations, so install/play shouldn't be an issue

Can you add another "play list" into a "play list" or a folder into a folder? rather than having five folders with 99 songs ?

Not with an IPOD. I haven't tried it with a USB connection in conjunction with a memory stick/MP3, but I would think that the head unit wouldn't be able to drill down into "folders in folders" and would just freeze up and refuse to play. :nerd:

Personally I went for the Harman Kardon Drive and Play. It gives you all the flexibility the dealer fitted option doesnt, cheaper too

Hmmm, sometimes that's worse as you end up not trusting your fellow workers

Then again, at least the car hasn't had X£0000's of damage to it.
