GTI anniversary plate...........

Does anyone know how to go about getting the anniversary plate if the car doesnt come with one? And how much it may cost? x

yep i also know this! JV (who owns this site) bought an anniversary with no plate and he got one from a volkswagen main dealer. i think he had to give them the chassis number or something to find out what 'number' it was.

not sure on a mk4 it'll be under the bonnet somewhere, probably near where the wipers are. or on the v5 document. phone up your local VW and see what they need. if they don't understand what you're on about (trust me they may not), tell them they are retarded and that they need to learn a bit more! it can definately be done as JV did it.

look under thhe passenger window wiper; much easier to read from there 

also you may get charged for the plaque if its a replacement; in some cases anni's weren't supplied with the plaque in the first place so you could get it for free; i'd try this approach as i've heard some stealers charger £100 for it

i personally wouldn't pay more than £20 for it; best bet is to see what the stealers say

My car was never supplied with one, useless sods, so the original owner sorted it with the local dealer for £0.

Would the original owner have to sort it then? I was kinda hoping i would be able to sort it all as a surprise for my boyfriend - do u think its going to be too difficult?
