The blaupunkt disc I have is 2007/2008, Thanks To Mark_Eire for purchasing before I bought the car from him, else I would probably never have bothered.  There is a TMC logo on the disc box...I get TMC messages.

Shame the system is total pants mind you...my IPhone provides far better satnav facilities.

I've got a RNS 510 and an iphone, how can you seriously say the iPhone is better, it doesn't have turn by turn directions for a start.

I've found the RNS 510 to be great.

You have an RNS510....I have the mfd2, I take it that these two units are not one in the same thing?  Dont take me too literally mate, the mfd2 gets a crap reputation on here, I am sure not too many would defend it that robustly.  Awaits an avalanche of ....

The I do think that iphone satnav works very well considering besides being a phone, it's almost a full web device, an email portal, a camera, an ipod, a games machine, a world radio, a device for remotely setting my skyplus, giving me live footy results when i am in the pub, a dvd/ video player and a remote way of watching bbc iplayer, watching porn, an e-reader, google earth, a wee guitar and posting on internet forums just like this from the train...oh and it has the complete works of shakespeare in there too....sure it has its limitations, nothing is perfect, even my GTI.

I have the MFD2 also, CD version and its 'ok', nowhere near the best system in the world but it does the job.  Currently running on the 2007 TMC version disc.  TMC does work although its not that great.

Perhaps I can clear up a couple of points for you (to the best of my knowledge)

MFD2 uses Blaupunkt Teleatlas Mapping.
RNS510 uses Navteq.

RNS510 has excellent support for TMC with detailed traffic updates and information.

MFD2 has two versions of CD/DVD available, with or without TMC - Obviously the TMC is dearer.

TMC on the MFD2 is quite limited and only covers motorways in the UK.  EU is better.

TMC is broadcast by radio stations, in the UK it used to be limited to Classic FM but it has better coverage now i think.

The RNS510 is BY FAR the best in car OEM supplied satnav unit I've ever used.

And if it wasn't for the "not quite complete" postcode searching, I'd say it was as good if not better than TomTom.

The built in HDD for MP3, the ability to add Bluetooth for a proper integrated phone system etc makes it a fantastic solution.

I think the mfd2 is some way behind according to those users.

RNS 510 V2 DVD, TMC works fine. I was actually driving today and got a voice message warning of potential traffic problems ahead, first time thats happened.

V3 disc is I think the most recent disc. Why buy off Ebay when you can download for free off most torrent sites. I downloaded it burnt to DVD works like a dream.
