MK2 GTi Query! Small bumpers 16v 5dr - why so rare???

I've been thinking about a new project car - a 5dr pre-90 spec 16v with small bumpers. Now i've been looking on ebay for ages and all the nice tidy 5dr's are 8v's. but no 16vs!

How rare are they??

small bumper 16v 5dr are pretty rare...you'll find a lot more 5dr 16v in big bumper form from august 1989 when they changed to big bumper...why i have no idea....maybe the man in the 1980's had more style :grin: than the man comming into the 90's :grin:....still a mk2 in either 3dr or 5dr 16 or 8v are all good fun :cool:

IIRC... The 5 door wasn't released for a while (nearer the big bumper "era") - to start with only the 3 door was available, so there will be a far smaller proportion of smaller bumpered 5 doors.

The 5dr 16v came out in January 1990 (I have one).

I would think that small bumper 16v 5dr cars are like hens teeth, to be honest.
