Hey guys,

can any one tell me where the best place is to buy seals as its started to leak around the drivers side is it a common problem and is it an easy fix?

You might be able to find some new seals here --> www.gpcvwaudi.co.uk but there are some that are not available anymore.

Do you know where abouts it's leaking in from ? My old cab used to leak when it rained a lot and that was a new hood, but it was mainly when facing down hill as it rolls to the end of the roof and ran in through the rubber that the window sits between at the top right hand side of the drivers window (top left of the passengers).

hi mate ive got a similar problem but just on the drivers side, the passenger side is ok and when you compare both sides, i can  see that the passenger side seal at the front sits on top of the glass where as the drivers window touches against the side of the seal. on the seal at the front the rubber is shaped into a rectangle and this is screwed into the hood. now i went and bought a new seal from vag 'dick turpin aka gordon brown' thieving dealers at £62.00!!!! and it still leaked! so before buying new seals make sure that the seal sits on top of the glass with about 3- 5mm of seal sitting proud of the glass all the way along but at the front make sure the screw is holding that front rubber rectangle tight against the hood. on mine the screw is loose and the plastic insert it screws into in the hood is knackered which im convinced is causing my problem. i did spend 3 hrs one sunday trying to adjust window mechanism and this did improve the leak but im certain that if you get that front part to sit right you should then be able to adjust window to get full seal. im gonna try tomorrow but forecast not good but from what ive seen of other cabs the seals sit on top of the glass and form themselves around the glass btw use washing up liquid to get seal along rail ill repost if this works

hi peeps i managed to sort out the leak on drivers side i think [must wait for a downpour to check] but im right about the rectangular block of rubber at the front of the seal, it must sit on top of the window and the flat outer side of the seal must sit against the pointed rubber seal on top of the quarter light. to get this fit i removed the drivers roof seal rubber and also removedthe steel channel, then removed the gasket that sits between channel and roof [i found that this was too thick at the front and pushing the channel and front of seal too far away from roof] i also found a build up of dirt and crap had accumulated under the hood trim where the front of the seal screws into the hood frame, ive now cleaned it up fitted a new gasket[used a strip of waterproof self-amalgamating tape] and refixed channel but when refixing channel i moved the front of the channel nearer the edge of the roof [the screw hole in the channel are slotted to allow adjustment] then refitted seal, but at the front part i moved the block of rubber so that the screw goes directly into roof and not the the hole in the channel. now doing this got the front block of rubber sitting the same as the passenger side. then i adjusted the drivers roof locking handle so there are 2 threads showing below the lock nut  i still got to check it at speed to make sure front hood seal is still good  but its sh*tty out there at the mo .  ali if your anywhere near enfield im quite happy to meet so you can compare seals

Sounds a similar problem im in glasgow lol i also the window and runners flex when you try to shut the door and dont go under the seal.

hi ali glasgow a bit far for me lol but me leak is sorted, check to see if window is not coming up too far,you can adjust how far in or out the window rear channel is by undoing two 10mm bolts on the bottom of the door at the back, you must get the window so that the top of the glass is level search for window adjustment in the forums but it does take a lot of fiddling to get  it right. also make sure that the end of rubber block on roof seal is against the rubber on top the A pillarwhen the door is closed check this from outside but like i said in the other post if you get the fit of that rubber block right against those two seals then you can adjust door window to seal against rubber

Ali83, i keep on top of my seals with vaseline espec in this sh!te weather, just helps create a better seal on slightly sh!tter seals!! lol but im majorly skint student!

altho if its leaking lots seals are the option, and can be expensive! if you find anywhere else be sure to let us cab drivers know!
