Oil Sensor warning
« on: 17 November 2007, 12:19 »
Hi,

Just brought a 2000 2lt Mk4 GTI and have noticed the following problems.

1. Oil Sensor warning comes on after I start it. How bad is this? will it cost alot to sort?

2. When I put the key in the lock and turn it once the front drivers door unlocks. Turn it a 2nd then they all unlock. This is fine, but when I go and open the boot the alarm goes off?

Cheers
I crashed mine, but another will be coming soon....

1.Oil sensor warning light means you have low oil ( you should never let it get that low, check it regular basis as the 2.0 loves its oil). Fill it up with 5w-40 oil ASAP. This should turn your light off, its not warning you that somethingh is wrong, just telling you your low.

2.The key sounds werid likes it not turning off the alarm, but its a strange one because its only doing it with the boot and not the doors? Might need a trip to the local stealers to make sure the key is working properly.

could be your boot lock is on its way out; the washer pipe tends to pop off and soak it and then knacker it

I'll check the boot lock tonight.

The oil level is fine, strange I think it has fixed itself when I reseated the dip stick.

cheer for your help.
