Gearbox wanted Mk3 Gti 8v (96)

hi, had problems with my reverse gear and has resulted in a complete loss of the reverse gear and now i'm seeking a replacement gearbox to see if it would work out cheaper for me buying from anyone here or to go ahead with reconditioning the existing one!

Am looking for a nice cost effective one as i want to keep expenses to a minimum as per usual for anyone! So if anyone has any ideas of wher to track one from, preferably within the midlands: Wolverhampton/b'ham or coventry area!?

had same prob with my 2.0l gti and used a 2.ol seat box and its works fine at £150 from scappy

You need to be quick if you want a good used gearbox for a mk3, i've missed loads on here and when I asked my local scrappy last week, he just laughed!

Ruji, phone Full Custom Gearboxes in coventry (he's in yellow pages), he quoted me £150 plus parts to fix the reverse, most other guys in Cov wanted around £500

hi. ive got a mk3 which im breakin its a 93 k reg .im in south wales.i want £70 for the box if ur intressed.

My m8 had this problem with his mk3 a while back, turned out it was only the bolt that holds the linkage to the selector on the gearbox(for the left and right selection of gears) it was a bit loose, tightened it back up and everything was cool. Might be worth a look first.
