dvla tax scam
« on: 15 March 2004, 13:07 »
its been on the news that the dvla last month sent out ?80 penalitys to 97000 people and they  said it was proving to be a deterrant..........

its proving to be a great money earner! in 1 month
97000 people got sent ?80 tickets add that up

97000 * 80 = ?7760000 in 1 month! i dont think speeding tickets were that!

its not a deterrant otherwise 97000 woulnt have been caught! the joyriders, proffesional car thieves, and tax dodgers they never catch, they only catch normal family people who are too busy trying to get to work and are in debt!

its just another government scam!!!!! >:(

and i also see the petrol has gone up! by 2p
i suppose the chancelor has had an early budget!
or the petrol companies have!! >:(

There's no excuse for not having car tax really, but in my opinion road tax should be paid by all road users (inc. bikes & Horses!!!! and anyone else who winges about taxable vehicles) and should be exclusively used to improve roads and public transort.

It seems the government is very well focused on and successful at generating revenue, but is abysmally poor at using it in the correct way.

I don't think many people would complain about the high taxes we pay if we received an equivelent level of public service.

On a lighter note, John Prescott recently bought a Jaguar (V12 XJR? surely one of the least environmentally friendly cars in the world, hipocrites? Never!) from a local garge renowned for dodgy practice and clocking cars.   Hopefully this car is a complete dog and will fall apart very soon.

A VR6 isn't a way of life, it's just a car.

I agree with the original poster actually.

I have often been late, really late with my car tax, but i have never not paid for a single month when the car was actually on the road.

I wasn't tax dodging, i was just late.

This is a gimmick just to raise revenue and penalise late payers.

Real car tax dodgers dont bother putting the car in their name, so why should they care if you cant now send the fine. And what do you do if your found with a car not in your name? Just tell the cop or troll (dvla person) that you bought the car in a pub two nights ago. What are they gonna do? Nothing.

I have a Nissan Bulebird who registered keeper is dead - if i wanted i could drive around with no tax, mot and and insurance, and if i get picked up, i only say i bought the car 20 minutes ago from some bloke. the new insurance fine is only 70 quid anyway.

having said that, it's insured, mot'd and taxed.

it isnt tax which is the problem its the price its going up and up and up until we get priced off the road......
?165 for 12 months thats some money but if that was spent correctly it wouldnt be a problem but the government has just wasted ?76 billion! on s***
the roads around here are very low quality and it just seems to me like were not progressing were going backwards........

?36 billion goes to the transport every year only 6 billion gets spent where does the rest go?
it sure doesnt get spent on hospitals or on defence
or on crime or anything else !

they just ripp us off any way they can......new rules new regulations new laws 1 miniute you can do 200mph down the motorway the next you cant.........
its pointless having more than 70mph on cars as you cant go over 70 anyway! you can do 60mph on country roads but you can only go 10mph more an a big flat striaght motorway! ???

were been controled by nazi's not a democratic country were being forced to do things like putting your belt on put your helmet on...... you cant buy extra large meals because some of the population are obese...........

if i want a big fat meal i should be able to have one
if i dont want to be restrained by a daft belt i shouldnt have to!
if we want to have cheap petrol and good roads we should have them..........good hospitals.........good doctors..............quick operation waitting times............
instead we have to pay high taxes and put up with this s*** speed cameras everywhere but they dont have money for hospitals or even nhs dentists! >:(

taxing times

tax doesnt have to be taxing!!!! what a load of s***
well what the fcuk is it then..........a fcuking raffle.........

tax is a tax you cant make it something which it isnt!

If I'm not mistaken, the 97,000 who were fined this month were not just a bit late paying their car tax - it expired in December of last year.

So these people are not just late in paying for their car tax, but they are dodging it.

I agree with the comments posted, in as much that we are spending out far too much and seeing way too little in return, and if catching and fining serial tax and insurance dodgers will strengthen the case for spending more on roads, I'm all for it.

Lets face it - we all know when our car tax is up for renewal, those big numbers in the windscreen tell us - is it really that hard to get to the post office to buy it on time?

Everything is a joke. You just have to go along with it - they'll never change.

I bet that over half of the 97000 people charged had their cars off the roads, and just forgot to declare them as SORN. I find it hard to believe that with all of these tax disc cameras that there are that many with out of date tax discs.

Heard on the radio the other day ideas to charge over ?1000 road tax on bigger engines (over 2.0 litre?) to try and cut back on CO2 emissions!!

It's just crazy how much time and money is spent on fining us motorists for any and every little offense now but if you had your car nicked what are the chances of the rossers finding it - or the chances of finding a copper anywhere!!!

New Labour - more like NO labour - get the f**kers out!!
