TBH I dont see why you want 400 bhp in a road going Golf! very impractical.

200 - 250 is more than enough.

But if you REALLY have to do it then you should stick to a VAG combo of some sort. Me I would probably go for a 3.2 V6 and TT running gear. But then I wouldnt go for anything like that personally anyway.

What about a Lump & Running gear from a V6 Mk4 4 Motion? As you are going to use it for track days won't need to be to practical? and bet they are not to hard to come by?

go for it buddy, it would be a beast!  not sure why your getting sh!t off people! i mean look at that tvr golf! thats not really a golf is it? and people loved it even though it wasnt really anygood at driving about! if you did make it you would make the mags with no problem at all!

cheers to every1 who thinks this is a good idea as i am gonna have a go at it, as remapped said i think cooling will be the biggest problem but i'll get round it some how.

just thought i'd let you know i'm going to look at a smashed up pulsar tomorrow morning so if most of the bits are ok then the project will be underway.
