Digital dash
« on: 12 November 2007, 12:56 »
A mate of mine has a Jetta GTX with a digital dash and he would like to know if it is possible and what modifications are needed to fit this into a MKII? Anyone done this conversion or know what it takes?

Ta!

It can be done mate  :smiley:

I have a load of different info on all types of Digi's in my E.mail......ill find out what it involves for you. I installed an Astra GTE digi into my Corrado this year, really happy with it, great eye catcher too!

If it's in a jetta surely it's a straight swap?

Not as easy friend! The wires can be different. Also you will need the transducer. Thats the plug that goes into the gearbox and sends electrical current to the dash rather than the normal speedo cable.

I've posted this before but I love it. Makes me want one!

I bet they're prone to going wrong though.

I think it is a straight swap as well as changing the speedo cable for the transducer but I thought I would find out before we attempted the swap. I don´t think VW would design a wiring harness specifically for this dash as there are not many around.

i think if you look at ebay.de, there is a seperate harness for it, certain feeds and stuff from around and about.. after all its running totally diff to the analogue one.. Try etka's loom listing?

you need:
clocks
clock -> fusebox loom
dash brackets
speedo sensor for 020 gearbox, MK3 Golfs are a great source for these

If its a 90 spec MK2 its easy as pie, dash loom is totally seperate.  If it aint, can be a paion as the dash loom is very integrated into the car loom.  Plus if one is 90 spec and the other isn't makes it a pain cos you gotta splice it all in!
