My interior...
« on: 11 November 2007, 19:57 »
Hey, i want to liven up my interior a bit on my Mk3 Golf (Non GTI) !   I dont have much to spend but what do other people do?   Im not into the ICE much,  I have seat covers which just look cheesy ...  Ultimatly i would like custom leather or somthing but thats never gunna happen!

Any ideas about what i could do?  Also if any one has any pics of custom interior that would be great :D

As above, hit fleabay for some leathers or GTi Seats, RECARO's come up pretty often & if you look hard enough so do the VR leathers, I got mine in near mint cond. for under £200! Just keep your eyes peeled!

I have been looking for ages now and cant find any leather ones at a good price but plenty of GTI ones have come up.

My local scrappy has how ever got a few full sets of Passat seats for £5 each in good condtion,  They are very much like the GTI ones so i might just get them for now.   they also have more adjustable bits which will help my ever complaining back

As far as i can see they are identical,  does any one know of any reason why the passat seats shouldnt fit?

Why dont you get some GTI ones and have bash at reupholstering them yourself.

It's not too hard to do, just time consuming.  I'm in the process of doing my own for my MK2, and I've never done it before so it's taking a while, plus I'm hand sewing, not using a machine.

A front pair of rocco seats I got off Ebay for £20

Center of base done.

Base done.

I bought the cloth from here http://stores.ebay.co.uk/The-Quality-Material-Company_W0QQcolZ2QQdirZQ2d1QQfsubZQ2d999QQftidZ2QQtZkm but it doesn't look like he got the cloth any more at the moment.

This place does vinyls http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Zebedee-Fabrics_Car-Upholstery-Carpet_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ6QQftidZ2QQtZkm

Some other fabric place http://stores.ebay.co.uk/FABRICAZ-FABRIC-STORE

And I'm sure theres a few more Ebay stores you'll find if you do a search

Cheers Dinx  I can understand why people charge good money to reupholster them now, its the labour/time involved that bumps the price up rather than the cost of the material, as a good quality leather hide can be got for a fair price. But I'm not a fan of leather so its cloth for me.

Yep, that's exactly what i did. I placed the cloth on my carpet floor in my  room, then used loads of pins to lay the seperate panels out flat. Then I marked the outer edges and fold areas and pushed a thin flet type pen through the sew holes to get an exact copy.
