engine or electrical problems 94 gti 16v

was driving along a back road las nite saw puddle slowed down for it went thru bout 15mph and at the other side of puddle car cut out and would not start for 30mins then i drove 15miles towards my house and it cut out in the middle of a junction, it has been fine all day today tho for 100 odd miles any ideas?

lots of wd40 should sort you out .

Will be electrical problem, if it was an engine problem it would have been knocking like a goodun if the water had got into the engine !!

Water in the dizzy cap is the most likely. If more serious it could be a broken coil
