mk2 golf 1.8 driver vs mk2 xr2?

the golf has 90bhp and the xr2 fiesta has 96 but im gussing the golf has more tourque but weights more which is quicker?

do 1.8 non gtis feel quick at all like throw you back in the seat?

I used to have a 205 gti 1.6 (10 years ago) and my mates driver used to keep up with that.

Ooh i fancy a punt on this.... I will say the XR2 for more horses, lot lighter and probaby a more sporting setup on gearbox (and same for suspension setup on the twistys).

Sorry XR2 would kill it...... My mother in law had a 1.8 driver and it wasnt anything like an XR2.... They are a lot lighter.. Id even say a good XR2 would give a 8v Gti a hard time

i had a mk1 xr2 and it was pretty nippy with its 84 stonking horses.

xr2, but unless that cvh had been rebiult recently I doubt it would still have the 96 bhp

used to be into fords in a big way, worst thing about then was the bloody cvh, terrible engine........

oil pumps would struggle to last 100k, then kill the top end.

Everyone always says the CVH engine was rubbish, but surely its a better engine than the Pushrod engines that were so tappety?? Anyway I had a MK2 Fiesta 1.4s when I was 18. Ragged the guts out of it and drove like a complete tw@t for 2 years in it, Never given a car so much abuse) bought it on 78,000 and sold it on 115,000 and it was still going strong!

when the oil pump goes it does the hydraulic cam followers and they sound worse than the ohv then!!

Are you insane!!!  My 1.1 mk2 fiesta with a 1300 sport carb and reprofiled cam used to keep up with xr2's.
