Arch trimming

I've searched high and low and can't seem to find a thread on this.

In the new year, i'm respraying my mk2 and whilst i'm at it i want to trim the front arches. Trimming or panel beating the arches isn't going to be a problem, i'm just wandering how the arch mouldings will fit once i've done this? 

Anyone got any ideas?

i dont think they will fit due to them being riveted on also the wing liner bolts to the wing
if you want to trim the arches you could always remove the mouldings and liners

Hmmmmmm, in that case i might have to bond them back on.

Can anyone else shed some light on this for me?

yep bond them on!

bonding will work only downside to it will be if you want or need to remove your mouldings at a later date

Bonding it is then.

Just realised why i've got some rust around the o/s/r window and o/s/r light, at some point its had a new rear 1/4 panel.

use tiger seal to bond them on..... I have had a grinder on my rear arches and have kept the plastic arches  riveted. I got about 3-4mm off them, anymore and it would be bonding them on time! and you can buy tiger seal remover stuff should they ever need to come off...

Cheers, think i'll panel beat the lip (get carried away with a grinder), it'll crack the paint but i painting it at the same time. Even with 10mm spacers on the rear i don't think the rear arches will rub at all.
