ED30 sub 10mph issue or not?
« on: 08 November 2007, 20:01 »
Hi all,

New 5 door steel grey now with 2k miles on the clock and starting to loosen up really nice

Only one potential problem, when rolling along the roads as you do on most motorways, stuck in traffic doing between 5 - 10 mph, my ED30 feels quite jerky almost kangarooing (if there's such a word).  Once upto 10 mph, very smooth

I have the dsg box and it only happens when between 5 -10mph and gentle pressure applied to accelerator?

Is this the norm, don't really want to take to stealers as it tends to come back with more problems than when first went in? :undecided:

Any help or guidance on this

NOT NORMAL.

Mine is as smooth as silk. I had a TDI DSG that had this fault and it ended up having a new controller fitted for the DSG. Some others have had DSG stutter and have had the ECU for the DSG module reflashed with an alternative control programme. Below is a link into the UKMKIV's thread on DSG issues which may be of use.

Mine does that too - I thought I just had a bit of a dud DSG box, but between 0-5 mph or maybe a bit more it slows down and speeds up in a gentle kangeroo type motion.  Should I really take it to the dealers?  I feel that I will just be fobbed off...  the behaviour is similar to that of an old car that kangeroos at very slow speeds.  I have also found several times now that sometimes the car when put into D-Mode when moving off does not move off immediately but it is almost like 1st gear kicks in after the revs are high and the car jerks forward.

Get it to the Dealer. I'm surprised that you haven't already. I couldn't live with a £20k+ car that kangaroo'd like an old Austin 7.

Just been for a drive again, this time nothing????? smooth as you like, sure it only seems to do the stutter thing when engine has been warmed up and only sub 10mph????

Well odd,.......

I wonder if it could be down to an over sensitive pedal? Perhaps its my boots causing the problem as when I went out a moment ago in my slippers  no stutter at all????

Re the DSG TT thingy and link, this is different, the car selects gears fine, no crunch, no problem and doesn't miss a gear, mega smooth until warmed up and stuck in slow moving traffic, then it stutters just slightly when between 5-10mph. Could this be the car still bedding in? After all its only a few weeks old?

My issue with dealers is, take your car in and they don't respect it and often mark it in some way, if soemone out there has had this sort of issue that after time went away, then great  I would rather hold on,.............will phone them all the same to ask for advice.

Link into the TT forum from UKMKIV's and they have a whole array of wierd and wonderful DSG faults. Just seems to be the Audi's that suffer the most though.  :undecided:

Sorry to drag this back up

Anyone else experiencing this?

Love my steel grey 5 door ed30 with dsg, however if ever I drive it spirited then get caught in slow moving traffic, like today, between 5-10mph the dreaded kangaroo effect happened again, its almost as if the revs are dropping too low because if I rev that little bit higher its smooth as you like?????

I hate with a passion taking it to any stealer

The car has 2k miles on the clock, could it be anything to do with not being run in yet?

Please guys and girls, give me some pointers as I am due to phone the stealers tomorrow to book it in

Everything else is fantastic, performance is

Thanks for any advice you can give,
T

I received this email a few days back and was wondering if perhaps you could help. Here is the original email:

New 5 door steel grey now with 2k miles on the clock and starting to loosen up really nice

Only one potential problem, when rolling along the roads as you do on most motorways, stuck in traffic doing between 5 - 10 mph, my  GTI  feels quite jerky almost kangarooing (if there's such a word).   Once upto 10 mph, very smooth

I have the dsg box and it only happens when between 5 -10mph and gentle pressure applied to accelerator?

Any advice you could give? Perhaps its only because the car is not fully run in?
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
