Mk3 Cold starting problems
« on: 12 March 2004, 17:29 »
Hi all,

I have a J plate mk3 GTi 8v with 120k on the clock which has developed a cold start problem; when cold it needs to be churned over several times before it'll fire. When it does it's really lumpy and won't clear unless I shut it down and start it again at which point it'll run perfectly. Once that procedure is complete it never misfires and so far it's never failed to start, just takes a bit of coaxing. When it's warm it'll run first turn of the starter.

Thoughts and ideas are very welcome.

Cheers,

Max

Try changing the engine coolant sensor for the fuel injection, seems to be the flavor of the month just now.
Steve.
