Like my quads so will keep them but can see the appeal of the others.
Someone mentioned a black badge, which I also have. Was this standard or a mod?

I think the black badge came in with the changes in 88 so yours should probably have a chrome badge.

Single lights look better with big bumpers, and quad lights look better with small bumpers i reckon! Though, if your going for single, it really does need to have a badge, and i think a spoiler. Though, as
7 slat quads

Mine came with single light debaged grille on it which i hated. Luckily the previous owner kept the original grille which he threw in with the car and i fitted it with the quickness and eventually i added a chrome VW badge to the front instead of the black one it came with. I guess im just a fan of keeping things original, i like people to know im driving a volkswagen not to hide it. Which is why one of my next jobs is to add the original badges back to the rear of the car, last owner remioved the VW central badge and the GOLF GTI badge leaving only the 16v on there, looks sh!t, who the hell does that? Also apparently they were too cheap to buy tinted indicators so they just spray painted the orange indicators and side repeaters black, luckily that was nothing a bit of paint thinners couldnt solve, just wiped them and it came off.
