Well, I'm totally happy with my Mk5 GTI and although I'd love a new BMW M3, I've had a sporty 2-door Beemer before and know they're not practical for my current lifestyle. The GTI Mk5 is such a great allrounder and has an iconic heritage stretching from 1976. It's a hard act to follow except that the Ed30 and R32 are equally great.

Oh dear me!! :embarassed:

Why would anyone do that to their car??? Dont be tight and just buy a porsche!!! You know there is probably a reason why there are only a few Gt-R's around and so many Porsches, without stating the obvious!

there is one reason - Porsche has clout. It has the BRAND NAME. "Porsche".. that sounds rich. "Nissan GT-R".. that sounds.. nothing. What is that?
If I had a choice now of buying GT-R or Porsche (4S or TURBO) I'd probably take Porsche. It's psychological.
But if you look logically, like a Vulcan, then GT-R goes faster around the ring than any porsche exceprt for GT (and you know how much GT costs).

I don't know what I would choose, and talk is cheap. I voted for white E30 with my money.
But logically GT-R is definitely something!!!

And another reason why Porsche is much more common here than Skyline or 350Z etc - Germany is next door.

I dont have any figures to back this up, but I doubt its faster than the 996/7 turbo (no mods). Also i think all you have to do is take a look inside.. (he white Gt-r link that was posted) in my opinion its just a glorified micra. I do give it to the Datsun for their technology and ability to build a very fast car... but certainly not a great one!

I like the interior of new GT-R.

I feel a derogatory note in the way you say "Datsun".
