No, not the alternator :rolleyes:, the little electrical unit bolted to the block

Hmmm! Guess the pic didn't work :angry:

I'm trying to find out what the little probe/sender is that is bolted to the front of the block directly behind the back of the alternator. Cant seem to find it in any manual.

that sounds like it could be the knock sensor.... I can't find a ref in haynes either. if you have pic messaging you could text me if you want. pm if you want.

Thanks lads, what does the knock sensor actually do? Anything to do with the crank?

It "listens" to your engine and if it hears pinking it alters the timing.

Cheers Nick, just did a search and I now know the ins, outs and wherefors of my new found knock sensor!! How the feck did anyone ever get on with only a Haynes and no internet forums? :rolleyes:
