« on: 29 October 2007, 16:20 »
I beleive a few people here own this head unit...I ordered mine today and the car is going into the garage to get it installed...a few unanswered questions which im gonna ask here, hopefully some one can help answer :)

1. Where is the USB port...would i need a USB Extension cable to run behind the dashboard to some where abit more accesible??
2. It only accepts SD Cards?? Can it play images, music, videos of the card?
3. Are maps pre loaded onto the head unit?? or do i need to buy them??

Hi Manu,

USB port is at the rear of the unit and I have mine linked to an 80gb IPOD video which is run through to my glove compartment. It will play video straight from the IPOD with the right cable. I have never tried to run anything through the SD card slot and my local Kenwood dealer updates the satnav for me and so it never gets used by me. I don't even have an SD card :embarassed:
Maps are pre-loaded onto the hard drive in the head unit, so you need to ensure that you buy a unit that originates from your area. It's no good having European road maps if you are in South Africa

You WILL love the unit and you will feel the urge to upgrade your speakers too

Thanks hurdy! Even in my old clio i had a kenwood head unit so i thought that would need to be the way forward for the golf! After u telling us about ur 7200 i thought it may be worth the money...1500 euros its got everything including sat nav where normally u need to buy like this thing seperatley so it works...it will be fitted tomorrow at 5 our time (gibraltar time) and yes...about the speakers it will be all moved out of the clio and i will have like a fibre glass install done i think? (wooden box may be bit to big)...i will post pics tomorrow when iv got the car back and let u guys know how it is! Thanks hurdy  P.S Hurdy you have your ipod linked thru USB?? Im quite happy about it...had it fitted in today and i am very well pleased with it! The only thing is....the dam airbag light has come on again...gonna need to take it to the dealers but not to sure how they will react about it? The sat nav function is really cool, do u think it would be possible to change the voice of the gay guy xD

Our new Garmin has the lesbian voice. Its like having a fetish porno movie in the car.

"please go up the street, before doing a U-Turn and slowly accelerating out the exit"
