Very nice indeed

I looked on one of the USA sites earlier and the OSIR stuff is just superb looking. Any more in the pipeline Robin?

....Cheers, Hurdy

Nothing in the pipeline at the moment except to do something about the blue bottles area when I find something suitable. Ooops! I forgot!!....I'm going to get a carbon rear VW badge/hatch opener from oempl.us who supplied my front badge.

The OSIR carbon is well known internationally for its high quality.

does the new Audi S3 come with a cover like it did on the previous version? A few people fitted this to the MKIV to tidy up the area under the bonnet; was a bit pricey for a bit of plastic though!!

Here's a link to what i mean:

....Useful link, Rhyso

Worth a phone call to ask them on Monday I reckon. There are carbon battery covers available but I don't think the stock black battery covers look bad anyway.

the battery side of your engine bay looks tidy enough so you could probably get away with it but no doubt you'll get them anyway  it would be rude not to!!!

EDIT - jus found this pic and it doesn't look like it

you could be the first

I found these CF covers by eurojet but simply cannot understand why they have done battery covers, which don't look untidy for shows imo, but nothing for the bluetop area! I don't understand adding carbon on top of rather than instead of what's already there.

I with you there on that one RR. I always understood carbon fibre to be a lightweight replacement for a heavier part to give a better power to weight ratio and hence better performance. Adding on top of existing parts is a cosmetic preference only and adds (a little) weight.

RR's bonnet is the shining example of a replacement that is worthwhile weighwise and as a bonus looks the nuts

....I don't think that saving approx 13 lb / 6 Kg with my carbon bonnet is going to add to my performance. Incidentally I saved approx 10 kg by fitting AP Racing's big brakes. If one really wants to save weight the GTI needs turning into a track car. I did the bonnet mostly for cosmetic reasons (I've been invited to 2 shows this year) and mostly for the vent.

I now feel much more encouraged to open my bonnet and check fluids etc!. The bonnet opening/closing action is a real joy too.

Robin, you saved 10kg by changing breaks? You changed only front breaks, right? How come there is such a large weight saving? How much do the original breaks weigh, then?

BTW, I like small holes!
