I can't find the bolts and I need it off asap. I may just resort to smashing it off with a hammer if anyone thinks it's ok to run without a cover?

Don't worry I have abonded my cambelt change as I've stripped the head on one of the hex bolts in the crank pully. Gonna get someone who actually knows what they're doing to fix it!

Those bolt strip for a passtime. I drilled a hole through the middle and used an easy out. Worked a treat. Bolts are the same for Audi A3, Seats etc...

to get the cover off you need to remove the crankshaft pulleys. once they are out of the way all becomes apparent.

i drenched the pulley bolts in penetrating oil first. does a beutiful job of em
