Steering Wheel Help!
« on: 20 October 2007, 12:16 »
right

I attempted to fit a large spline adapter to my 88 small spline gti. to do this I gently knocked in the spline adapter with a hammer using a socket (from a socket set) and then bolted my new leather corrado wheel to help push the spline adapter in further.

the spline adaptor can't go in any further yet when i put my new leather corrado large spline wheel on  it does not sit flush to the column.

The adaptor is now on and my new wheel will just fits on. But because it isn't flush to the column the horn contacts do not join and the indicator mechanism no longer reaches to turn the indicators off automatically.

also it looks naff

someone must have had this problem???

can't find anything in the search please help!

Thats because you haven't cut the small portion off.

If you look at the spline adaptor there are 2 parallel lines about 10mm from one end. Cut this part of the adaptor off and it fits a treat.
