Regal Autosport and GIAC
« on: 18 October 2007, 18:35 »
Hi All,

Well I've gone and done it, had my standard MkV for 4 weeks now and decided to GIAC it at Regal. My initial thoughts are it's Awesome!....Totally transformed the car and it's become the vehicle I've been striving for. Just a great all rounder, makes me smile every time I drive it and I can get the kids in the back  :smiley: It may have saved me 11k as I was contemplating a 4.2  S4 as 300 bhp was my minimum requirement, however the MkV and the GIAC complemented by the lower weight have completely satisfied all my motoring urges...would be completely happy to recommend to any other customer, Regal are friendly and informative. I'll keep you all updated if there are any reliability issues. The car is so much more drivable in traffic, it is my view that the DSG in Drive mode was a little under torqued and made pulling out of junctions not as stress free as it should be the GIAC has completly resolved this issue. Sport mode is a bit aggressive for the school run!

If your considering re-mapping your ecu GIAC is well woth a look.

If your nice Chris may even offer you a discount!

I do not have any affiliation with Regal if you were wondering.

The kids now won't be able to eat until the end of the month so food parcels would be very much appreciated :huh:

I was in a Seat Leon MK2 on sunday @ Crail 1/4 mile and it had been fitted with GIAC flasher with 3 programs, took the car upto 309bhp
it was very impressive, change maps on the move, valley mode for winter driving he can get 360miles out of a tank, so would almost pay for itself, doesnt increase the cars flash counter either, its got my vote for when i get my ED30.

the guys had 2 there a standard one and a mapped, both were 1st time in them there,
standard mk2 = 14.314 @ 101.1mph.
mapped =  14.220 @  102.0 mph
the mapped should make 14 you would think, for all the puirists crail isn't fia approved.

I was initially hugely impressed by the sound of this conversion.

The 3 program set up, map change on the move, no increase in flash count and Merlin's subjective assesment made GIAC appear a fantastic choice.

Then K4ith quoted the Crail 1/4 mile times!!!!!

Now I know that 1/4 mile measurements are not the most flattering figurative assessment of a highly tuned front wheel drive car but even so an improvement of only 9/100ths of a second and 0.9mph over standard do not make very tempting reading.

Why was there such a small improvement??

were in the progress of figuring it out :huh:, could be response times, but the runs i gave here were the same driver in both cars at dif times.
