I believe hammerite is best. I have mixed a gold as near as [ossible to the colour of my wheels.

Not stripping the caliper is the lazy mans way! But its what I did! Whats the point of cleaning, scrapping, grinding, sanding and then painting bits ya cant see!
I used a file to take off some of the casting ridges on the caliper, (after cleaning) then emery paper.
