1st off £300 is a bargain price!
Debadged grille and headlights can be transferred over to another golf (or sold on ebay) when you decide you don't want the car so easily done, there's plenty of other small mods you can do that you can take with you when you're finished with the car.

Batteries aren't that cheap, why do you think you need one?

And yeah your first car is something you use to really learn to drive in, something too beautiful or fast isn't the right tool for the job.
When the great scorer comes to write against your name, he marks not that you won or lost, but how you played the game - HST

ok so had a proper chat with my dad and have decided to have a look.

My dad said that the engine turns over slowly when trying to start however had no trouble starting and the battery looks old so that could be the problem.

The car needs one tyre as its beginning to crack and there is a small crack in the windscreen but was ok for the MOT.

The advisorys on the MOT were the handbreak (sorted on the MOT) and the tyre (i can get one cheap from a friend).

There is a crack in one inner light and one of the outer ones. I had already planned on getting smoked lights and taking out the inners so thats no problem for the time being.

im just abit concerned about going to a car w/o power steering and a differnet clutch :\ sure ill get used to it though (dad recons anyway)
As said £300 for a beat up car isnt too bad really. Just gotta get some sounds into it and im set

will be going to look at it tomorrow afternoon and from what my dad said its not too bad and im definately considering it.

Thanks for the help guys. If/when i go ahead ill get some pics up

ooo btw how fast will this go? it sat at 70 nicely without rattling or shaking.

Ahh had a look and theyre either 12" or 13"

would this golf be worth £300 even if its fairly ratty bodywork?

im really quite worried tbh

Any car with 12months ticket and 5months tax is worth £300 if you ask me, a couple of dents cant really be considered ratty when you consider even the latest mk2s are now 15years old!
