DSG Launch Control - No handbook
« on: 15 October 2007, 22:20 »
Hi All,

I've just picked up my MkV and I don't yet have a handbook, still waiting for delivery!  I understand that the DSG has Launch Control. How does this work on the MkV?

PS: Are there any other toys I need to know about?

Ta, Merlin.

Ta Found it  Not sure if it'll work on my standard DSG. Due to be GIACed tomorrow so i'll ask them for the most recent map, that should help?

The launch control programme enables maximum acceleration"

"Switch off ESP"

"Depress brake pedal"

"Move selector to position S"

"Depress accelerator until engine revs have reached 3200 rpm"

"Release the foot brake"

"You should always switch on ESP again once the acceleration procedure has been completed"

Priceless!!!

mines a new GTi - 3300 km's. I have done launch control a bunch of times - no problems here.

I drive my car on a daily basis with the ESP off and ficked over to tiptronic and use the flappy paddles EVERY SINGLE DAY. I hate the ESP and it annoys me that I have to switch it off every time I start the car. As for the wet - it stays off. I know how to drive my car and I prefer to 'feel' what the car is doing especially in the wet and the ESP doesnt allow me to do that.

I'm going to a track day on Thurs with Mercedes, they have a few nice cars for me to thrash around the track - SL500, E55 AMG and a CLK63 AMG that is going to have the hell beaten out of it. I have also organised to take the ol' GTi out at the end of the day and give it a good seeing to
