Ed 30 bluetooth
« on: 15 October 2007, 13:52 »
My dad's just ordered a new Ed30, it's fully loaded but we decided against any of the Bluetooth options.

They were all bolt on kit's, a Nokia one and something else (I can't remember). We decided against it because I was thinking the unit that's installed on the new Seat Leon Cupra could possibly be attached to the Mk5 Golf loom?

It enables you to scroll through your numbers on the display in the dash and call/hang up etc. So there's no more visual kit in the cabin.

Has this been done? Can it be done?

It’s possibly a toy they’re saving for the MK6.
One more thing, we ordered the touch screen Nav with 30G hard disc and SD slot.

Does this have Bluetooth? Could it connect that way?

Thanks

I've just got the touchscreen Sat Nav  known as "RNS 510" for my MkV (yet to be installed) and am told from www.vwnavi.com that you need to order Premium bluetooth to be able to make this unit work with bluetooth.  You are way better off ordering it from the factory if you ask me.  :nerd:

From factory they didn't seem to have a system that worked that well, it was all Nokia or Parrot?  And we didn't want all the other kit fitted in the car (my sister has the Nokia one in her Gti and it's nowhere near as good as the Seat one).  The seat Loen one works really well, you can scrole through the phone ect on the dash using buttons on the steering wheel.  Even Skodas have the function and if your brave enough you can retro fit it, as shown here.... http://www.octavia-vrs.com/technical/bluetooth.html

Even more so when he's only going to be driving it to the station and back!  The station is less than 5 miles away and I can't see him getting lost!

yes but a £200 piece of Car thieves heaven is not the same quality as the 510.If i was alowed to have one, id have it, no question.
Its a cracking piece of technology that will look great in the dash, rather then stuck on with a sucker cup on the windsreen!

also deckedr32, i love your Mk4 r32, pics look fab, not normally keen on the Mk4, but i luv that colour!!

Cheers, The Mk4 R is a keeper.....  In all honesty I hope the old man hates the ED30 so he sells it cheap to me!  (wishful thinking)  That way I keep the R as the weekend toy!
I've always been impressed with the Gti, my sister has a fully spec'd Gti that's been Revo'd and I've taken that on many backlane thrashes!  Quite a bit different to the R but a dam good daily driver.

My dad wanted the Mk5 R32 but I don't think it's as good a car and neither did he in the end.  I love the Mk4 but the Mk5 R doesn't do it for me.  I took the Mk5 R32 out, as I was going to chop mine in but with the DSG makes it's so boring.  But I think the DSG on the Gti feels great (more fun).
