Atlas Grey in a rattle can.
« on: 10 October 2007, 23:00 »
Where can I get some? My local Halfrauds don't seem to stock it, any other suggestions or am I looking at going to a paint place and getting it made up?

Halfords should be able to mix it up for you, and put it in a rattle can! thats what they do! did you ask?
Failing that, contact your nearest motor factor to the trade, and they should be able to sort it out for you

Yeah give halfords mixing service a go, only about £5 for a 400ml rattle can. That said I tried to get them to mix up some brown for my van recently and they started giving me some speil about how they didn't stock one of the pigments as it contained lead.
I therefore went back to my local generic spares place in ely who have mixed me some before and they did it no problem saying it was b0ll0cks about the lead. Quite a lot of high street spares places have the facilities if you ask and you'll get a better match if you have it mixed rather than just buy some off the shelf.

You can also buy rattle cans to paint code straight from VAG, last time I had some it was £12 for a pack of colour and laquer.

You got any pics of your dad's split ?

I've PM'd Caddyvan Tastic or whatever his username is, that chap who works at the reading dealers parts desk, to see if he can sort me out. VW should be a good colour match. If no tthen I'll try getting some mixed up but I have had bad results with mixed paint and metallic colours in the past.

No worries mate, Caddy is gonna sort me out with the pukka VW stuff so I'll let you know what it's like. If you want some then I can pick it up for you as drive past the dealership twice a day.
