A couple of questions about the 16v tuning guide.
« on: 10 October 2007, 19:02 »
I'm trying to sort out my cars idle, as when cold it's very likely to cut out and when warm either idles at 1000 rpm or 2000 rpm.

1) Mentions to make sure the throttle cable is not too tight, how would I identify, classify 'too tight'?
2) Mentions cleaning the brass air bleed screw, where is this and by clean do you mean that the screw needs to be removed and cleaned or the part it's screwed into should be removed and cleaned.

Sorry if these seem obvious.

Thanks in advance.

ISV clean it out see if makes a difference.
As for idle valve falling out some times it happens or gets loose. near the throttle body just under the cable.

Rubjonny has pics somewhere.

Well all cleaned out and adjusted as per instructions. So far running well, engine feels and runs far smoother than before.

Worked out that the 2000rpm is caused by the gas pedal dropping down and pulling the throttle slightly, so now need to work out how to fix that.

Throttle switch might be too loose the black thing on top where cable wraps around you could check the tension or resistance when reving see which it is cable or black throttle switch?
Did you spray some carb cleaner into the throttle body inside?
