Ok until i can scrap together the money for the alloys i want is there an easy way to get my standard VW alloys to look fresh again. they are bubbled in places but its not till you are about 8ft away that you notice, any suggestions?

hi there
if you can take your wheels to a tyre place and get them to pop the beeds on the front of the wheels,
all you need to do is get hold of a decent sander (preferably a DA machine), sand down all the bumpy bits with the sander untill your happy with the finish (if there is any pitting due to corrosion etc, a tiny bit of filler will sort that out)
mask the tyres up with some news paper and masking taoe etc (dont do what my dad does and paint the tyres to)

give them 1 dust coat of primer and 2 full coats (this will get rid of any minor indentations. then give them a rub down with some skotch pad.
one dust coat of silver base coat, and then one ful coat.
leave the base coat to dry for around 30-45 minutes (a hair dryer alyaye helps)
now your ready for the laquer, (this is the bit that i always mess up so be careful, try not to get any runs etc or it will take ages to rub them off),
apply one dust coat of laquer, and two full coats.
this normally stays tacky for a few hours, so try to leave it over night to go hard,
once they are dry your all done.
providing there is no drips or runs etc,
if there is, you can carefuly rub them down with some 2000 grade wet and dry paper.
before applying any primer, base coat or laquer. make sure all of the wheels are clean and dry (halfords sell some panel wipes in a wet wipe style which are very good for jobs like this,
this is very important as you dont want the paint to react due to grease or dirt etc.
all the materials you will need will come up to about £25-£30 in total, which definately beats paying £30 a wheel to get them done. pop down to halford and they will have everything you need.
(x2 large cans of grey primer, x2 large cans of silver base coat, x2 large cans of laquer, sand paper, skotch pads, and 2000 grade wet and dry)
hope this helps matey, if your unsure of anything send me a pm and ill send you my number if you want to call me.
