Ok so had me golf a fair bit now. Love it too bit so much i want to do but so little money lol.

Ok so the things i wanna replace are the strips that arent colour coded. On other models i see they are.

As you can see in the picture the rear strips are just black plastic. Can you get colour coded one from any were and fix them on. Or am i just gonna bare with them.

i think the colour coded ones that you get on the GTI's and GT's are a different plastic as they were designed to be painted and not exposed.

not sure how easy it is to remove those strips but you could try and spray them yourself, or get them sprayed, not sure how good they would looks as your not painted have a rough texture.

You can paint these, but they must be primed with several layers ( dried and smoothed down with fine grain wet & dry paper after every coat) of special platic primer (as it is more elastic than regular primer). Then apply desired colour! Easy peasy! Same can be done with wing mirrors etc.

PS: Remove them first obviously, then u can bake on the primer / paint in the airing cupboard.

if i were you i'd look at getting some rubbing strips from a breakers, get some primer, wet & dry, spray paint from halfords and give it a go yourself.

atleast if you try it one a spare strip you free to mess it up, if it goes well then you just swap them over.
