see i said that 'newer the better' disease was contagious - i think black gti and vr6 have been getting a little close.  ;) :D
200 bar is slang for 200 gold ones, thats quids not gold bars and VR6 is having a joke.
Im sure even VR6 would recognise this is a good motor even if its not his perfect car ;)

?1500???  that seems a little too much for a car that old.

I cant see me getting much more than ?2500 for mine and its a 1997 model and its mint too.

I think an enthusiast would pay ?1500 but... i dont think its worth that much..

(Notice the "I" dont think its worth that much.. this is MY opinion... and its based losely on Glass's guide, Parkers and my sister-in-law whos a car saleswoman for VW)

Its a cab, so it doesnt devalue like normal cars. cabs always hold a residual value, and will be the one Golf that will become collectible in years to come.

Part of its resale value is the value of the hood. If the hood is tatty and going, then its going to be worth a whole lot less. If the hood is brand new then you are talking decent cash.

I dont think ?1500 is a bad price for a nice Cab.

As a personal preference, i would want ?1500 to pay for an original car, with limited mods though.

i dont think ?1500 is a bad price, but always go for the ?1495 type price cause it sounds cheaper, even though by ?5!!!!, wrong time of year for a cab, if you left it another month may time is when cab trade picks up (and overall cabriolet market, not just a mk1)so your more likely to get top dollar in a fedw months time, looks a nice cab mate dont take no silly offers hold out till price is right, or if the 'newer'car  your after is under the price you want for yours how about asking 'px poss??' for example if your after a mk2 16v gti (newer than what youve got , lol) may take 16v golf gti mk2 in px and then see what happens!!

I agree with Kniterider. If you can just hang on until after easter the money u asking gonna be no problem. Im just holding out selling my moggy til then because the return gonna be so much better

Even better stick it in the for sale section at inters and double the asking price. some looney enthusiast will think they got a bargain! ;D  ;)

The second hand cab market has a huge price bracket, which makes it so difficult to give a price for car of a particular year. I have seen a late model MK1 cab on a forecourt for ?6995! OK, so forecourt prices are a always a bit optimistic, but 7 GRAND!!!!! and someone will pay that. Likewise, I have seen good many good cabs going for less than a ?1000.
I reckon if you stick to your price and increase your advertising to other reputable second hand car magazines, then it will sell easily enough.
