New Engine/Engine Swap
« on: 08 October 2007, 10:06 »
Has anyone had an engine from these guy's ??? "The Engine Shop" (part of BigBoy's Toys)

Thinking of maybe a 1900cc 16v Big Bore but it's £1700 !!!
Whats the 1800cc Turbo 20v engine like ??? maybe a better bet at £1295
I'd like a 1.8 20v Power Plus but at £2995 it's a bit over budget
I'd better get saving

Humm I'm confused is that 20v engine the normal MKIV 20v engine or some wierd MKII and MKIV hybrid? I've never seen these engines out of the car so I don't know the differences between the blocks.

From the looks of it that 20v engine is just a tuned up replacement for a MKIV and would need loads of work to get it into a MKII. Or am I wrong?

£1295 for that will literally be just the block and head, no wiring, manifolds, or most expensively, turbo.

S4 Avant. Eibach springs. 18" Avus. RS4 Intercoolers. Viper Tuned. Goes Fast.

That's what I thought, not as cheap as it would appear. However their prices are reasonably good for recon stuff and they do build engines to spec so I'm pretty sure they could do a 2.0 bottom end with 1.8 Digi head both fully recon'd and assembled for quite a good price. All you'd need to do is whack on the ancillaries, bolt it to the box and off you go! Would be ideal for me but I don't have any money :-(

I'm not too sure, they fit it for another £296 (mk2) so it must come with the bits and pieces ??? :undecided:
