Oil Temp after Head Gasket Change
« on: 04 March 2004, 23:48 »
Have just changed the head gasket on my 1990 8vgti all went well and head did not need skimming.

After putting back together and running for an hour or so the oil temp is sitting at about 94 degrees and I have not had the car over 60mph or 3500 rpm.

It always used to run at 88-90 degrees when running like this, has anyone any ideas.

All else seems ok.  Should I run the car gently for the first couple of hundred miles also after a head gasket change?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Oil temp sounds fine to me. Don't worry about it.

Probably not, providing the job has been done properly with good parts, all should be ok.
