Huddersfield VW dealership!
« on: 23 September 2007, 08:41 »
About 18 months ago my girlfriend and I bought an 04 reg R32 from Huddersfield VW. It was top spec with sat nav and all extras for £19k. The sales manager at the time was a guy called Danny Shaw! When looking round said R32 all the usual questions were asked. Owners milage service etc etc etc.

After picking the car up and taking the car home the log book arrived 2-3 weeks later. Oh - 4 owners thats strange they told me its a 1 owner car.

Unsupprisingly Danny on behalf of his salesman denys that they declared a 1 owner car.

I argued and said its not good enough and he said tough!

So next i decide to ring head office - their response was - sorry we can ONLY advise the dealership and not force there hand.

So as i was just within 30 days at this point say i want a 30 day exchange.

Now this is where the trouble started - Danny took a couple of months pretending to find me an R32 - in the end after months of arguing he offers me a GT TDi. NO FECKING GOOD MR SHAW I BOUGHT AN R32 NOT A FRIGGING DIESEL. He is just taking the piss.

So i decide a MK5 GTi might be acceptable - the only one in their dealership at the time Black 3dr V NICE - so i rang him his response was SORRY THIS CAR IS BOOKED TO GO INTO A RACE SERIES - ha ha its a second hand car! WHAT!!

He tried to force the GT idea much much more for a while and then said i have a week to find a car or he'll just give me one off the forcourt - luckily a 5dr steel grey DSG GTi came in and he let me have it.

This isn't where it ends either - upon collection the finance agreement comes out at a stupid interest rate in comparison to the R32s.

He said it was on special offer before and cant do a thing about it. I HAD HAD ENOUGH BY THIS POINT!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NOBODY EVER GO HERE THEY ARE RUDE THEY LIE AND IS SUCH A BAD WAY OF GETTING A GREAT CAR!

My Mkiv GT TDI was from there.
Yes sir one owner from new. OK no problem. Everything is fine. Got the V5, one previous owner. OK that was the dealership.
When I came to sell the car I transferred my private plate. Got the V5 back and it shows 3 previous owners
On the phone to them. oh sorry we don't keep the paper work for that long. So we can't help you. What are you going to do about it then?  erm.............very sorry but nothing.
Rang DVLA they went through the records and found the mistake. But even they wouldn't change it. They even sent me a photocopy of the reg documents.
Turns out that they (dealer) had filled the paperwork in for the wrong car for the wrong buyer . He cancelled it, the DVLA paperwork went through. So it was dealer, buyer, dealer, on the V5 and not one owner from new AHAHAHAHHAHAHAH

I knew that the car had not left the compound after I said that I would buy it.
I should have twigged when I tried to register the car and the insurance companies were saying, so you are MR XXXXXXXX (from the REG.) No sorry but I'm not.

So I after two new cars from them I bought else where this time.

Sounds all too familiar!

What amazed me was VW head offices attitude SORRY WE CAN ONLY ADVISE THEM BECAUSE ALL GARAGES ARE A FRANCHISE NOW.

My response was so what the f**k is the point in VW head office then!! They did nothing forme at all apart from wind up an already argogant Danny Shaw! I have never had anyone shout at me and swear at me down the phone before! I wish ihad a recording device - i really do!

I still feel bitter about it even now and it ruins the experience of owning my MK5 GTi.

Dont let it spoil things, just take it to another dealer for all the servicing/ warranty work etc - do they miss out on all that lucritive work. AND make sure you tell anyone who will listen how poor they were in dealing with you. word of mouth is more powerful than you might imagine.

OK,ok..........

There are some people who work and have worked there who have been more than helpful and have bent over backwards to be of assistance. Lets, just say that they weren't some of the younger folk (not that I am old myself).

But it is the one or two people who take the shine off the experience.

I did love my MKiv and it was a great car. I just had it serviced else where.
