From what I can remember, the Forge Diverter Valve is significantly better than the standard valve fitted to the TFSI engine but I do not believe that it makes any specific noise as it does not dump to atmosphere, one of the more technical types such as TT or Red Robin would be best placed to answer or possibily try searching 'forge' or 'diverter valve' on this forum.

I've already answered this in detail in another thread. I've even posted links [or did I do all this on Tyresmoke?].

It's a spacer which makes the whooshy noises and not the DV. The Forge DV will not damage anything - Quite the contrary, it will better protect the turbo by not failing like the stock DV is known to do. VW have relocated the stock DV to the front to help the problem but apparently there are still stock DV failures - It's a known weak link.

It's primarily a precautionary measure, especially on a remapped car, but it does hold boost longer (by a very small amount).

The Forge DV has been very thoroughly tested and there is also a version for the Ed30.

Dump valve mega chav!
diverter valve is the business.
with a div/valve full power is avail almost instantly, as opposed to the dump which has pumped it into the atmosphere and has to build it up again( taken from this months VW driver)
I had one of these (007P) fitted to my last MK4 Gti as i was running a remap, noticed a slight diff but not much.

If you can hear the dump valve it is mega chav!  Only tend to hear them on crappy old Subaru Imprezas and Nissan Sunny's . Naff!!

....No, you don't hear it to anything like the level of sound a 'spacer' delivers.

I have the spacer from forge for my ed30. Its only slightly louder, nowhere near as loud as evos, scoob or GTR's. Only time it is loud is in closed spaces like car parks etc. Also it seems louder when i run in mapped mode.
I can understand why ppl here will say its chavvy since a Golf is meant to be a sensible mans car. But sinc i can't afford a GTR, i'm happy making my car sound abit more aggressive, cos lets face it the 2.0T engine is quite dull sounding inside the car

....Which is why I originally got a Milltek Cat-back exhaust and then after learning more about performance I got a Turbo-back (Hi-flow+Downpipe).

I've been in a Skoda VRS (same engine) with spacer and it's the kind of whooshy noise which turns heads in the street. Also, rather irritating after a time. But each to their own.

The Cat back does help abit aurally but the engine front still sounds dull in my opinion. I don't find the spacer irratating, maybe because i've got a chav inside me trying to break out
