Trip Computer

Hi there

I live in NZ and have a 2007 GTi (white, 5 dr, manual) and am very pleased with it to date.

Only issue is that after about 3,500 miles the trip computer appears to have become erratic - total overall fuel usage figures (ie. not just the trip you are on) fluctuate quite a bit in the space of a couple of miles.  Has anyone else had this problem?

FYI-base cost of a 5 dr GTi here is approx GBP17,750, which compares quite well with the UK.

Hi Ronnie, good to see another Kiwi enthusiastic enough to find the relevant forum, we are a rare breed. Where are you living over here?

Are you an Ex-pom as Kiwi's don't look for forums and don't buy manual Golf GTI's?

As for your trip computer I can offer the sum total of zero help, which, of course, is rubbish of me.

Someone on here will know though.

Thanks speedynz - no I am a Kiwi and living at the moment in Wellington. Probably a rare breed - a white GTi and manual - not many around.

My father actually has a 2006 DSG model, but had a few problems with a sensor which meant he was stuck in first gear (he had driven it quietly during running in). Took weeks for a replacement to be sent from Germany....which put me off the DSG.

Trip computer and fuel usage number not a major issue, but hopefully not a sign of things to come....

Ronnie, white GTI's are an acquired taste but very, very cool.

Sorry to hear about your dads problems with the DSG but pleased that it persuaded you to buy a car with a real gearbox instead of 'little tappy paddles' for children with no strength.

If my Golf had 800bhp and only weighed 650kgs then I'd probably like to tap a paddle and keep my hands on the wheel when changing gears.

I'd lose a body part to drive a Veyron, maybe even the body part.

I think that the DSG box is stunning and despite it's imperfect actions it is probably the better box 99% of the time. I just get bored in auto's, paddle shift with throttle blip or not.

My comment was tongue in cheek and meant no offence.

Can anyone help Ronnie with his trip computer query?

And have you spoken to your dealer Ronnie as it's obviously still under warranty.
