Accelerator cable
« on: 28 February 2004, 20:11 »
Ok this is botha funny story and a fecking annoying one,

My golf (mk1 1.9 8v tsr) has no accelerator pedal as in it has fallen to the floor, i checked under bonnet and the cable is all loose, the car had some welding done yesterday and the carpet has been up and the seat out on the drivers side, could the damage of been done then? ive only done 10 miles roughly since the work was caried out, any1 got any ideas how hard it will be too fix?

now the amusing part i noticed it had broke after parking up in a quiet place with my missus, then had to get my dad to come and tow me  :-[ i could of died  >:(

Have a look at the top of the pedal, the cable has a hook on the end and a grommet in the top of the pedal. The hook can drop out if the grommet is worn.
Steve.
