Speeding, fact or fiction?? - Illyun please read!
« on: 12 September 2007, 12:49 »
Having seen poor Illyun getting zapped again by the boys in blue I thought I would post this up, not tried this myself but according to one of the guys at work (who has!) it works.

So you get zapped by a fixed camera, plod with lazer gun doing a few miles over the limit.   :cry:Wait a week or two and the letter drops through your door telling you to pay the £30/60 fine and you will be getting 3 penalty points.  Nothing new so far.

Now this is what you do, send your cheque for your fine off but over pay by a quid or so.  The courts will cash your cheque but will have to refund your overpayment, sending you a cheque for a quid or whatever the diff is.  The trick is to rip up the cheque and never cash it.   :nerd:

Now the 'system' still see your case as still open and therefore not process your penalty points until the case is closed on the computer.

Ok so you still have to pay the fine but you dont get the points, .  Like I said, havent done it myself as I havent been caught but it apparently works.  What have you got to lose!

Hmm, I think this one is a complete urban myth, but I may be wrong.

I have heard of this and its an old trick, a loophole that has surely been closed by those money grabbing bar stewards by now.

When I last got done on a fixed penalty, I had to send my driving licence off to get the points applied (well, take it to the plodstation, actually, as I only had the plastic card). The plod would have taken my licence on the spot if I'd had it, so that points can be applied. If the case remains open, without points applied, wouldn't that mean that DVLA keep your licence......?
