I do not personally reckon that I am getting ripped off.
It was my decision to purchase a GTI and leave my MPG counting days behind when I traded in my TDI. I knew that it would cost me more in fuel on a weekly basis and resigned myself to this when I changed. I swore that I would never look at the MPG I was getting when I bought the GTI and have only looked at it once when I travelled up to the Lake District for the week. When I did this I looked at the Brim to Brim method of calculating the mileage rather than the average MPG from the cars computer (32.8mpg if I remember right

). I bought the GTI to get back some enjoyment in driving a sporty car, rather than look at the fuel consumption.
I'd be more inclined to see what I got the consumption down to after giving it some, rather than tootling along at 70mph in the inside lane of the motorway to see what I could get it up to

Looks like we need another golden rule adding to the ten commandments.
"I shall not covet nor read my fuel consumption"
