And remove the speed limiter, as some US states require a 125mph limiter.

I don't know!

I never bothered with removing it on my last S4, nor my present RS4 - but then they were known to be a little lax from the supposed 155mph limit.  When the B6 S4 was out, genuine top speed tests gave the limiter kicking in at 161mph, and I had 165 showing on mine.  Even down some rather, large long and empty hills on the french autoroutes wouldn't get it to budge over that, though on the flipside, it would still pull that going up hills too.

I've had my RS4 upto 172 on the autobahns, but with only 4k on the clock, the engine still felt slightly tight, and not full loosened up.

I do know that Audi, just like all german cars, have very accurate speedos - overreading by 1-3mph.  Can't say that for cars from a certain rice country, nor those with a blue oval (though Fords are better than they used to be).  :smug:

I disagree. I was doing 230kmh by GPS while it was more like 260 on the speedo (though I did not look so carefully, of course). When I do 140 by speedo, it is 130 by GPS.

Me too....My VW speedo has been tested as 13% inaccurate and VW are willing to replace it but will not guarantee better than 10%. As I prefer to use my PogoAlert GPS to read my speed (and previously a Road Angel), I see no point in 'mending' the VW speedo.

Moi - wrong . . . .

Which part of my previous post do you not agree with?  If it is the speedo accuracy, then I'm going off the accuracy with my last S4.  I regularly checked the speedo against GPS on arrow straight and flat roads, using cruise control to make sure there was no deviation.  I only really checked upto 100mph, mainly in Germany and the garlic eating country to its left - and even at an indicated ton on the clock, the GPS was steady at 98.  At 80, the GPS read 79.  So my S4 was very accurate.  I havent tested the RS4 yet, and the GTI has only been tested a couple of times, but I didn't take a great deal of notice, as I was on unfamiliar roads.

There was also another site (the one which tested the horsepower at the wheels - can't remember the www though), and that also reported that the speedos were generally within 2-3 mph at a ton.
