Sorry to change the subject from sexy Ukrainiens.

VW are starting to produce the Pirelli edition in september. Anyone know if its coming to the UK. Mind you I agree with Hurdy about the seat material.........

I think thread mark on the seats looks nice!  But not as nice as tartan.

Only detail I can find is in the VW Driver mag and it says:-

Available in both 2 and 4 door versions, the Golf GTI Pirelli will go into production in September, for the continental market, and may well follow for the UK" :nerd:

Anyone with more info, then let us all know.

How can VW justify charging UK customers at least 8k more than in the USA?

Makes me  !

because the cost of living and average salary are less over there

Cost of living doesn't come into it, the cost price for the car is the same (give or take a few hundred quid for slightly difference specs) wether it's sold in the UK or the USA. It seems that VW make at least 8k extra profit out of every car sold in the UK compared to the USA.

Yes, I agree. US cars tend to have a higher standard spec AND have to be transported 3,000+ miles across the Atlantic and so the profit VW must make on UK cars (tax excepted) must still be immense.

Huh!

The standard GTI in the US has less kit compared to the standard GTI in the UK - 2-zone climate, TPMS, light & rain sensor (for auto headlamps & wipers).

Though that doesn't account for the extra 8k we pay!  But then we do get shafted on tax here, and maybe the strong US anti-competition prevention laws have something to do with helping imports!  :undecided:
