new car
« on: 02 September 2007, 19:44 »
hi, im new on here, been checking out the site for a week or so and its quality, ive learned loads on it.  I got given my mk2 by a mate for changing his civic engine and a few other bits.  anyway, it's not been on the road for nearly 2 years until i mot'd it on tuesday.  im used to bigger cars like 5 series and a6's etc but im loving the golf.  ive had to do a few bits on it but im suprised how well it drives especially after being sat up for so long.  i was wondering if anyone knew about the wheels? they're 16's and say MBN on them and i didnt know if they were worth keeping or not.  also i know its a long shot but has anyone got a drivers side door in the same colour?
cheers! tom

hello, sorry I can't help on the wheels mate although they do look familiar, your car looks like a great example though, epsecially for free (well almost... I'm sure you paid in grazed knuckles back ache etc. swapping out your buddys civic engine )

like yourself I'm new here too, not owned any golfs for a looong while, (my othering 4-wheeled passion is early porkers) but I just picked up a late 8v gti for daily driver use yesterday, and i forgot how great these cars really are.

well i changed the engine and basically helped him out loads with his cars.  i also had to spend a bit on this one to get it roadworthy like brakes, set of tyres, wheelbearing, wasn't running right etc so i don't feel too bad about it....
