A microfibre cloth, and some detailing spray is all that should be in your boot for emergencies.
Don't want that nasty bird poo on your paintwork.

You really shouldn't carry a bat, that could be construed as a weapon. What you need is a very large Maglite torch, it's perfect for all sorts of situations! ;)
