yeah very weird that,

The guy at the counter said they had 2 in stock and ones of better quality so i went with that...
It looked way longer than the fan casing..

I think i might just head to the vw dealer and order the propa one and stop goofing around GSF!?

Cheers

Yeah I think you are right mate,

it must be for the diesel, says Golf Jetta 1600td on the box!
I should get this sorted by wednesday!

My water temp light had been coming on and the mechanic suggested that due to the crunk/oil in the water tank the sensor in the tank must be covered hence the mixed signals. I guess I will find out soon enough!

Also yesterday, I was running the engine with the bonnet open and noticed that the fan kicked in at 110 degrees.........is that the normal temperature the thermostat opens? A friend said that MK2 GTIs issue thermostat opens at 87 degrees? :undecided:

Many Thanks for all your responses,
Goops

Hi,

I bought a the proper rad from the VW dealer and got it fitted this afternoon.
Flushed everything out man the crud that came out, was all dark brown water!

New rad is in, ran the engine for a while while putting coolant in and the fan kicked in at 110 degrees...
What is the difference with the opening temp and fully open temp? (85 and 105 as mentioned by monkey alan)

Is this deffo a thermostat issue or is it the temp switch at the bottom of the rad (see i was paying attention with the mechanic at it  )

Looking forward to the motorway drive tommorow!
Thanks for all the help!

G

i assumed it meant 85 is the temp when the thermostat starts to open and 105 is when its fully open.  :undecided:

Hmm I just want piece of mind, knowing that the car fan is kicking in at the right temps and that I am ok to drive at temps below just 110 (without fan running)
