Are you looking to fit an airbag to a car that didn't come from the factory with one?

If you're looking to retro fit an airbag, its going to be a pretty big job.

Not only have you got the steering wheel/airbag assembly to fit and wire, you will also need to fit the accelerometer/s that actually trigger the thing in an impact.

Not sure you'll ever be 100% confident in it working, which defeats the object of fitting it.

Also, getting the bits, I'm pretty sure that there are laws regarding selling them (to stop scrappers selling potentially damaged/faulty ones)so you may have to go through some pretty expensive channels to get them!

I'm being a total thingy aren't I? You said passenger airbag, not drivers! Sorry, I'm a div!!

Right, that does make things a little easier, in as much that if you have a drivers airbag, you'll already have the accelerometers in place.

To be honest, I think you would really need to strip a Mk3 dash, and see what goes on behind where it is positioned.

My first thought is WHY ??? It takes up sooooo much space that you have no glovebox at all hence people fitting Mk3 Cab gloveboxes underneath ( instead of that useless shelf which stuff falls off when you accelerate! ) then driving round wondering if its gonna work! :P

For those of us who are sick of looking at a big plastic blanking plate with the word AIRBAG emblazoned upon it , get yourself a Mk3 cab glovebox which screws underneath and replace aforementioned useless shelf/tray and provides you with a lockable glovebox! Job done, but why VW thought fit to supply hairdressers with a place for their hairdryers!( i can hear cab owners seething now! ;D JOKE GUYS'N'GIRLS! ;D) and not the rest of us who want some secure storage bar the boot fails me! ???
