Also, the car you're transferring the number from has to have an MOT i think?

Yes it does need an MOT as I have recently found out when trying to get G60 ORB of my new mk2 golf.

When i bought my 16v all those years ago, i decided to purchase two things from the outset - car and number plate.

Its an irony that as much as the car devalued the plate increased in value so after 11 years of ownership - the combination was bought for ?4800, and is now worth ?5000. Which is nice.

And thats before the car was returned to its storming condition in the last 2 years.

However, the car originally had a private plate, before i purchased mine, and because of the slowness and strangeness of DVLA, there were two cars wandering around with the same plate.

Anyway, i'll get to the point - the plate i bought was retained on a certificate and not a car.

Regards,
Tin
