chipping 8v gti whats good n not good

my dads wanting his 8v chipping
what chip is recomended and where to buy from
hes not after a track car
just wanting better throttle responce and running

That Dastek does look like a proper chip! Not come across them before. 

The most regularly used chips are the remapped air/fuel chips that come up on Ebay all the time for about £25 or so.  You might get a bit of improvement with one of them but nothing earth shattering with a standard set up thats for sure.

Thats what i was going to go for when I chip mine
Heard a few good things about them on here I think  :smiley:

Gonna look at that dastek chip now  :cool:

Dunno if I would trust it unless someone who has used it recently can vouch for it  :cool:

That unichip looks really good!
But £400! 10x as much as a blitzchip!
But you can do so much more with it  :shocked:

I bought one from HigherPeaks... it does improve throttle response and accelleration (especially bottom/mid range) BUT it caused pinking (even after being properly set-up as per rubjonnie's guide) which has since vanished after removing it. i guess the old girl didnt like being overworked!


I don't think a semi will give the same results
